With Wedding Season underway and Fall soon approaching (hopefully sooner than later), it’s important to get yourself ready for your big day! While skincare is important, we’ll save that for another post. This review is about lip preparation. Too often when I’m doing makeup on a bride, I notice that their skin will look flawless but their lips is another story. Ladies, don’t you want your smile to look it’s absolute best in your wedding photos too?! It’s simple and easy to get beautiful lips. Not only that, but the better condition your lips are in, the longer your lip color will last.

I recently tried Smashbox Emulsion Lip Exfoliant. It retails for $18 and you can buy it at a Sephora or Ulta nearby.

What it says it does:

Emulsion Lip Exfoliant

The first sugar-based, peppermint, lip exfoliator that is perfectly edible, and
smells delicious. Experience a cooling sensation as poppy seeds and sugar
granules gently remove dry, flaky skin, while shea butter, jojoba, and
antioxidants condition and revitalize lips
Ingredients:

0.75 oz:
Castor Oil, Sucrose, Glycine Soya (Soybean) Oil, Beeswax, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Dimethicone, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Jojoba Esters, Papaver Orientale (Poppy) Seed, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Butter, Spent Grain Wax, Argania Apinosa Kernel Oil, Butyrospermum
Parkii (Shea Butter) Extract, Tetradibutyl Pentaerithrityl Hydroxyhydocinnamate, Phenoxyethanol, Propylparaben.

How Smashbox suggests you use it:

Apply emulsion to top and bottom lips – working it in a circular motion to exfoliate.

Allow emulsion to remain on lips for several seconds until a cooling sensation begins.

To remove, moisten a cotton pad with water and gently wipe away scrub.

Follow with a generous application of Smashbox’s Treatment Lipstick.

My thoughts:

I LOVE it! It’s not harsh at all and leaves my lips super soft, which is the perfect canvas for any lip product that follows. And did I mention that it’s has a great flavor as well- a sweet sugary flavor!

So Ladies, now that you know how to get great lips, let’s get to it!

Beautifully,

1. COMPLETE YOUR GUEST LIST – This seems like a very minute task and isn’t really that big of deal since your wedding isn’t until
next July, right? I would say that is Bridal urban legend #452. Having a complete head count prior to selecting a venue is a very important task that couples often overlook. They find a place and fall in love with the decor and ambiance only to find out six weeks before the wedding that the venue can’t accommodate 200 guests for a sit-down, four course reception. So take time out to start your guest list in some type of spreadsheet that can calculate the number of guests for you automatically. Don’t stress so much about the addresses at first, as you can always go back and add those to your spreadsheet at a later time. Your main goal in the early stages of the planning process is to find a location that will accommodate your guest list. Remember to ask your parents for their list as well.

2. HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER – I know you probably thought that was coming but it is true. Most couples think that wedding planners are only for the Platinum Weddings they see on TV or in the movies, but that is so not the case these days. Since weddings have evolved tremendously in the last 20 years, wedding planners have become more of a necessity than a luxury. Professional planners can help
save you money and time over the next few months. They can help secure vendors that fit your budget and style with confidence. They
are there to make sure that you are asking the right questions when meeting with your photographers and your florist. Most brides think by hiring a wedding planner that they will give up control of their special day, but professional planners work very closely with the couple to ensure that THEIR vision is captured without breaking the bank.

3. SET A BUDGET – Don’t sign any contracts before you and your soon-to-be husband have discussed the budget for this weekend bash! If your parents are helping you foot the bill, make sure to include them in this conversation. Your wedding budget should be what you can truly afford without having to go into debt. This is when a great wedding planner comes in handy because he/she can show you where to spend your money to make the largest impact. Also by creating a budget first, this allows your planner to connect you with FABULOUS vendors that fit perfectly into your budget.

4. FIND A VENUE BEFORE YOU SET THE DATE – Yes sometimes brides fall in love with the date only to be disappointed that the venue doesn’t have their date available or the rental price may break the budget. A lot of times if venues have availability during slower months or non-traditional days (i.e. Friday or Sunday) you may be able to get a better price on the rental, so being a little flexible may free up some extra cash for those gorgeous chivalry chairs. In any case, don’t purchase those save-the-dates until you have a signed contract for your venue.

5. CREATE A DESIGN BOARD – In 11 years, we have seen so many brides that come to us months before their wedding day without a clear vision. Since finally convincing their groom to have a tiffany blue and chocolate wedding, they have scoured the town for everything chocolate and tiffany blue. EVERYTHING! Didn’t matter if they had no clue where they were going to use the piñata, they bought it anyway
because it was chocolate and blue. If this describes you, STOP right now and call your maid of honor and tell her you need and intervention.

This is how many brides blow the budget when they don’t have a clear vision before they start purchasing for the wedding. So, take a few weeks to do a little research and answer these three questions:

1. What is the overlook am I trying to create?

2. How do I get this look?

3. Where can I get these items to create it?

Once you have these questions answered, then you are on your way. Clip some images that represent this and start designing your board. This will help you narrow your vision down and rule out items that will distract instead of enhance. If you are still a little lost once you complete
this task, we have designed a Décor Program just for you. Our team will help create signature events that represent you; complete with pricing and where to find all the items you need to create this look. Our “Creative Team” is also available the day of the event for set-up and break-down.
